I have all these memories of you.
I no longer know my own memories...
I'm trying to teach them back.
I'm trying to understand you.
Past, present & future.
You can lie to anyone – but not to yourself.
Today I remembered to wish and to hope.
I found a rusty old coin in my pocket,
from someone I can't remember,
from a place I don't know,
with a purpose it has never fulfilled.
When I was a child and found such coins,
I kept them until I saw the first well,
and then I wished.
But now money no longer makes wishes come true,
and there is no well.
They are dried out.
Dad told me that the holy water fountain was getting moldy.
The marble cracked,
and prayers turned to dust on the walls.
But I still have my hope.
I know the rain will come,
that I will melt into the ground I have walked on,
and that nature will bring nourishment.
And more will live again
I have all these memories of you.
I no longer know my own memories...
I'm trying to teach them back.
I'm trying to understand you.
Past, present & future.
You can lie to anyone – but not to yourself.
