I have all these memories of you.
I no longer know my own memories...
I'm trying to teach them back.
I'm trying to understand you.
Past, present & future.
You can lie to anyone – but not to yourself.
Today I remembered small joys when I saw a familiar name in a newspaper.
Eating sour candy.
The soda-soaked cup at the end of a movie visit,
and my sore tongue, picking popcorn shells out of my teeth.
What a great achievement. Just like the movies they put on for me.
One of my favorites said that I am part of the “children of Karl Marx and Coca-Cola.”
I'm not sure what he meant,
but I will never forget again.
The characters burned so quickly that only the cigarette butts remained.
We held hands.
Children were conceived in that movie theater,
and the adults became children again.
Someone gave me fire.
I have all these memories of you.
I no longer know my own memories...
I'm trying to teach them back.
I'm trying to understand you.
Past, present & future.
You can lie to anyone – but not to yourself.
