The spring day seems calm and peaceful. But beneath the wildly variegated canvas of a flower-strewn meadow, a desperate struggle for survival unfolds. Worker bees toil tirelessly, transporting their precious cargo of nectar and pollen to deposit it in cramped honeycomb cells, where it will nourish drones and larvae under the watchful eye of the majestic queen. In the claustrophobic interior of the hive, a deafening hum testifies to the bees’ devotion to their duty – not a single worker pauses to question his or her role in the eternal cycle of life in the queen’s kingdom.
